Leg
Bands are essential for good breeding records and for legal reasons as
it is illegal to ship, or to resell your Parrotlets unbanded. Lovebird size
bands (3/16") can be used
for all species of Parrotlets. We band at 1 month when young Parrotlets
are removed from the nest box for
hand
feeding.
Never band as soon as you have finished handfeeding. This can hurt them
as you may press too hard on their gullet and cause them to spit the
food back up. We used lovebird size bands, closed banded, aluminum. Below
is the company we recommend to buy your Parrotlet bands. A diagram of
how to band is on the order form that they mail you.
