Personality of Blue Parrotlet
Pacific or Celestial Parrotlets are the most popular of the pet Parrotlets and for good reason. They are the most parrot-like in personality. They are also some of the most beautiful. Hand-fed babies make wonderful pets when placed in a home right after weaning and quickly become beloved members of the household. Blue Parrotlet mutations have an exceptionally sweet, calm personality both as a pet and with other Parrotlets.

History
The Blue Pacific Parrotlets arose in Belgium 1986 in the aviary of the breeder Frans Coppeiters. This beautiful Parrotlet mutation spread rapidly throughout Europe and later to the rest of the world. Blue Parrotlets have been bred for quite some time in Europe and were one of the first color mutation Parrotlet imports into the United States.

Distinguishing Blue Males from Females
Blue Mutation Parrotlets are beautiful colored birds. The male blue Parrotlets have beautiful bright blue markings on wings and lower back. In the lucida sub-species the gray coloring on the back and wings on the males adds a beautiful contrast to the soft blue. Female blue Parrotlets do not have these markings. Both male and female blue Parrotlets have blue coloring that can differ between birds but is a soft sky blue color.
